01 / Origin

Most projects start with a blank canvas. Ours is black.

Born in the dark. Bred in ambiguity. Building systems people can use.

AX
Breaking or disrupting things.
Enterprise
Bold and organized initiatives.
Limitations
The sum of contextual constraints.

Axel is an abstract research lab. It works on problems that do not fit an existing category, product, or explanation. At a minimum, we begin with the maximum.

02 / Theory

Start with the whole problem.

Maximum
Begin with what is known, uncertain, possible, and constrained.
Conditions
Identify what must remain true and what constrains the work.
Minimum
Build a small, useful form people can review and test.

Keep the full problem in view instead of forcing it into an existing category. The work is reduced only after its goals, evidence, and limits are clear.

06 / Body of work

How Axel’s work fits together.

Purpose
Governing researchDefines the mathematical rules that keep intent, limits, and authority explicit.
VDF
Spatial frameworkTurns work into connected surfaces people can inspect, correct, and continue.
Narrow
Product expressionTranslates the research into an everyday interaction being developed and tested.

Each body of work starts with the full problem, preserves the conditions that matter, and reduces only when the result can be reviewed and used.

The method is visible in practice: Axel preserves what matters, VDF gives the work a visible form, and each exploration tests the result in use.

Selected explorations

Examples in practice.

Four further explorations show how the method adapts across brand, coordination, service, and recovery work.

Scentimental
Scent, memory, and ritual
Agiles
Innovation and coordination
Numbers+
Bookkeeping and tax readiness
Refund Recheck
Prior returns and recovery
Scentimental · Brand and product concept

Let them C you coming.

Raw ideas about scent, memory, clothing, and ritual became a sensory brand and product world.

Applied work

The same method, carried further.

The explorations clarify the ideas. The work below shows how those ideas were carried into interfaces, services, and workflows people could review and test.
